Internet marketing can expose your product or
service to millions of potential customers (as there are over 6 billion
people on the Earth.) Information is both a product and service.
Providing information is a service and packaged information, such as a
book or ebook, is a product. Potential customers visit web pages to find
information about products or services.
One of the best ways to market on the Internet is by
creating good content that people want to read. The search engines index
more and more based on content such as articles and content filled pages.
Content can be defined as "information worth having."
In years past, web sites used multiple words and
phrases and metatags to rank higher in the search engines. These did
not necessarily make the best content because the search engines only looked
at the words and phrases. Today, however, the search engines are more
sophisticated. Now, information is becoming more important and is critical in
when used in sales letters, emails, articles and blogs.

Research and freelance writing are the keys to
making a web site rank well in the search engines. Once they rank well
in the search engines, they can be found by your potential customers.
You sell more products or services at a profit and your web site is
successful.
Research
Research is fundamental
to good writing. Research is defined as (by Merriam-Webster online):

careful or diligent search 2: studious inquiry or examination; especially:
investigation or experimentation aimed at the discovery and interpretation
of facts, revision of accepted theories or laws in the light of new facts,
or practical application of such new or revised theories or laws 3: the collecting of information about a particular subject
Even with all of our technology, one of our main
communication forms is still the written word. In fact, with the advent
of the internet, the written word has become more important than ever.
Both web content and newsletter content is in high demand. New and fresh
content is required to attract customers and make sales. Content is
definitely
King!
Beyond email, many people
have turned to "blogging" as a form of communication. Blogging
is another form of journalism, apart from the mainstream media that
allows anyone to publish articles or information on subjects of
interest. Blogging has
changed the face of both television and newspapers, also known as
"mainstream: media.
Freelance writing encompasses several different
areas. Several of the more common areas are:
Business/corporate writing
Technical writing
Advertising
Web content
Project categories include brochures, newsletters,
advertising, web content, business content, whitepapers, books, articles
and the list goes on. Of these categories, one of the fastest growing
seems to be web content and newsletter content creation.
The business of freelance writing is well

Why is Content so Important?
One of the reasons that content is so important is
the concept of "branding." Branding is making a product or
service a household name. Some examples include Nike, UPS, Ford,
MacDonald's and Microsoft. According to one article in Redmond
channel Partner Magazine (July 2006) entitled The Importance of Being
Microsoft by Lee Pender:
"Microsoft is the world's biggest
brand."
It is estimated that the value of the Microsoft
brand is more than $62 billion.
This is the importance of writing and creating
content on the internet. The more you write about your products
and services and put that information out on the internet, the more you
increase your branding. However, the content you create needs to be
information that people need and can use, not just advertising. It needs
to be information that people share with others.
